Last month's historic blizzard may have shut down Washington, D.C., but it didn't stop CDFGC Community Coordinator Stacy Mathis from making her national speaking debut. At this year's Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America National Forum held in Washington, D.C., Stacy presented to over 60 coalition representatives from across the country about CDFGC's approach to local coalition building and our 2 year process to mobilize, organize, and strategically plan to prevent youth drug use.
Participants at the workshop learned about the 2 year mobilization and planning process that CDFG utilizes to initiate neighborhood community anti-drug coalitions in urban, suburban and rural communities in southwest Ohio. This model is based on the Strategic Prevention Framework, and is an easy, step-by-step process starting from community readiness and ending with essential elements necessary for a functional coalition.
Participants left the training with the knowledge, tools, and resources to initiate, or enhance, an anti-drug coalition in their community. She was very well received and her advice was sought by many of the attendees following her presentation.
To learn more details of CDFGC's proven process to help start and sustain community anti-drug coalitions, please contact Stacy Mathis at 513-751-8000 ext. 16.
