Mini-Grants Overview

The Coalition for a Drug-Free Greater Cincinnati is committed to supporting local community coalitions in their growth and development.  The mini-grant program offers local coalitions financial support to accomplish the following objectives:

  • To increase the number and capacity of local coalitions.
  • To identify the need and potential solutions to bring substance abuse prevention into our neighborhoods.
  • To increase involvement of as many sectors in the community as possible to communicate clear anti-drug messages throughout communities within our region.

Mobilizing Mini-Grant

The purpose of the Mobilizing Mini-Grant is to engage multiple sectors of the community in a commitment to action that will specifically address substance abuse prevention.  The community mobilization experience will focus on bringing people in the community together and will follow a specific process that begins with the concern of community members, proceeds through the articulation of a vision and mission, and the implementation of action steps designed to bring about community change.

Mini-grants will be awarded for a period of one year and will not exceed $2,500.  No match is required for mobilizing mini-grants.  Member coalitions or community–based groups may receive mobilizing grants one-time only.  In subsequent years, coalitions and community-based groups may apply for planning funds as available.

Planning Mini-Grant

The purpose of the Planning Mini-Grant is to engage members of the coalition in an evidence-based planning process to develop a multiple strategy/multiple sector strategic plan focused on changing community norms, attitudes, and standards of conduct.

Mini-grants will be awarded for a period of one year and will not exceed $2,500.  No match is required for planning mini-grants.  Member coalitions or community–based groups may receive planning grants one-time only.  In subsequent years, coalitions and community-based groups may apply for implementation funds as available.

The Mini-grant applicant will submit a grant to build the capacity of the coalition by engaging members of the coalition, based on the Strategic Prevention Framework’s (SPF) 5-step planning process.  (Enclosed information on the SPF.)
